The Santa Barbara Bowl
Snugged up in the foothills above the city, the Santa Barbara Bowl was built in 1936 using funds from the Works Progress Administration. Boasting American Craftsman-style architecture and extensively renovated in recent decades, this is the biggest outdoor amphitheater on the Pacific Coast between L.A. and San Francisco.
Outfitted with more than 4,500 seats, the Santa Barbara Bowl provides a stunning setting for live music. Each year between spring and fall, the venue—which has memorably hosted everyone from Bob Marley and the Wailers to Joni Mitchell to the Beach Boys—presents dozens of concerts, covering a wide range of styles and drawing plenty of big names.
The 2022 season at Santa Barbara Bowl is no exception. Among the performers hitting the stage this year are Fleet Foxes on July 9th; The Chicks (with special guest Jenny Lewis) on July 29th; Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on August 13th; Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on August 17th; Jackson Browne on September 7th; Bonnie Raitt on September 22nd; and Death Cab for Cutie on October 19th.
Parking for Santa Barbara Bowl shows is normally at the Santa Barbara High School. A solar construction project underway this year means some of that parking won’t be available, but there will be additional spaces at the Armory (700 Canon Perdido). You can also arrange rideshare transportation to avoid parking logistics altogether. It’s recommended that you arrive at the venue an hour and a half before the concert start time.
